PRIMARY vs SECONDARY COLORS

What is color?
Quality of an object with respect to light reflection.
From latin word coloretur.

Properties of color:
  • Hue: Name which we give to a color.
  • Intensity: Which refers to the strength and appearance of the color.
  • Value: Lightnessss or darkness.
Why color is important?
Vital part of design, creates visual impact and important for graphic designer.

What is primary color?
Basic colors can be mixed together to produce other colors.


                            
Kinds:
Lightcolor primaries (Red, Green, Blue)
Pigment color primaries (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow)

                 

Purpose:
Wavelengths of emitted light.
Combining RGB adding light and combinations are brighter.

Why Red, Green, Blue as primary colors?
All colors are made by mixing primary colors in suitable position.

What happens if we mix Red, Green, Blue color?
It produces light white color.

What is secondary color?
Mixing any two primary colors in equivalent quantities.

Advantages:
Improves good look and feel.
Less expensive.

Disadvantages:
Images quality will not be good.

Applications:
Electronic displays.
Traffic signals.
Printing.
Painting.
